A PEEK AT OUR
2008
WORKSHOPS!
PAINTING
ON LOCATION & IN THE STUDIO --- June 13, 14 & 15, 2008
Learn to improve your
painting skills on location. Local harbors, estuaries, and
gardens provide reference material, rain or shine. (We can retreat into
our conference room at Dumas Bay if the weather takes a turn for the
worst.) Michele will
give spontaneous
demonstrations covering the summer landscape: water and reflections,
figures in the landscape and working with color and light. In these
sessions, she discuss the art of simplifying, techniques of
wet-on-wet and wet-into-wet, dry brush effects and how to maximize
enjoyment of the outdoor painting experience.
While working on each of
these topics, she emphasizes composition, value, and color, the
things that make a painting communicate. Creativity and individuality
are encouraged throughout.
While watercolor will be
the medium used for instruction, students may use acrylic, if preferred.
Bring a good sense of
humor and prepare to have fun.

to explore color. Students will receive individualized attention while
painting from live floral setups. A fun, yet productive atmosphere, group critiques, and helpful handouts will be
